TP-Link Launches Wi-Fi 8 in Malaysia, Its First in Asia Pacific

by com-editor

TP-Link has officially introduced its Wi-Fi 8 technology and roadmap in Malaysia, marking the company’s first Wi-Fi 8 launch in the Asia Pacific region.

Unveiled during the TP-Link APAC B2B Summit 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the technology shifts the focus beyond outright speed towards more stable and reliable connections, particularly as homes and businesses increasingly depend on cloud services, AI applications and growing numbers of connected devices.

TP-Link showcased two Wi-Fi 8 products at the event, the Archer 8 Ultra router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh Wi-Fi system, alongside a preview of its upcoming Omada Wi-Fi 8 platform for business networks.

Wi-Fi 8 Is Focusing on Reliability

Based on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, TP-Link’s implementation centres around what it calls the Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine.

Rather than simply chasing higher speeds, the technology is designed to improve coverage, manage network congestion and reduce interference when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.

Once commercially available, TP-Link expects Wi-Fi 8 to provide more consistent connections across larger, crowded and multi-floor spaces, while improving performance for devices located further away from an access point.

That could translate into fewer interruptions during video conferences, more reliable connectivity across hotels and retail spaces, and steadier networks for hospitals, universities and factories. At home, the same improvements are aimed at households simultaneously connecting smartphones, TVs and other smart devices.

The launch comes as Malaysia continues expanding its digital infrastructure. Under the Malaysia Digital 2030 action plan, the country is targeting a 30% contribution to GDP from the digital economy and 500,000 high-value digital jobs by the end of the decade.

Beyond Wi-Fi 8, TP-Link also introduced its Fusion Pro Series, which combines network and surveillance management within a single platform. The company also announced plans for an Omada-VIGI AI Application Developer Alliance, bringing developers and technology partners together to build AI applications for environments including classrooms, retail spaces, factories and hotels.

TP-Link is also working with three Malaysian universities to introduce Omada networking courses and hands-on training as part of its local talent development efforts.

Availability and Malaysian pricing for the Archer 8 Ultra, Deco 8 Ultra and upcoming Omada Wi-Fi 8 products have yet to be announced.
