Japanese nama donut brand I’m donut? is officially opening its first Southeast Asian store at The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur, welcoming customers from 12 September 2026.

Founded by chef Ryouta Hirako, I’m donut? is known for its signature nama donuts, which feature an exceptionally soft, airy texture that sets them apart from traditional donuts. The brand first opened in Japan in 2022 and has since become known for its handcrafted approach and unconventional flavours.
Over 30 Flavours, Including Malaysian Exclusives
The Kuala Lumpur outlet will serve more than 30 flavours, including signatures such as the I’m donut? Original, Nama French Cruller, Pistachio Cream, Cacao and Custard.

For its Malaysian debut, the brand has also developed several flavours exclusively for the local market. These include Cham, Hojicha Kaya Jam, Milo Glazed, Masala Chicken, Banana Fritter Caramel and Pandan Coconut Cream, combining the brand’s Japanese roots with familiar Malaysian flavours.
The donuts are shaped and fried by hand, with components such as creams prepared in-house where possible. The menu also spans classic, cream-filled and savoury options alongside seasonal creations.
For founder Ryouta Hirako, Malaysia’s diverse food culture and openness to new flavours made Kuala Lumpur a natural destination for the brand’s regional expansion.
The opening marks another step in I’m donut?’s expansion outside Japan and gives Malaysian fans a chance to try its signature nama donuts without travelling abroad, while the locally inspired creations offer something unique to the Kuala Lumpur store.
I’m donut? Kuala Lumpur opens on 12 September 2026 from 10am to 10pm at GS.05.0, The Exchange TRX.
