Disney+ is adding another Korean romance to its lineup with Between Steps, a new 12-part melodrama starring Choo Youngwoo and Kim Sohyun, premiering on October 5, 2026.
Set largely around a university robotics lab, the series follows Park Minjae, a doctoral candidate and former swimmer whose dreams of becoming a professional athlete ended after losing his leg. Reserved and afraid of being hurt, Minjae has spent much of his life avoiding romance.
His routine begins to change when Lim Youjin, a former Clothing and Textiles student, enters his world after being prevented from graduating and finding herself in an entirely different field. Known for her direct personality and reputation as a troublemaker, Youjin initially struggles to connect with the much more reserved Minjae.
Despite their differences and an awkward start, the two gradually grow closer as an unexpected attraction develops between them.
Choo Youngwoo, known for Head Over Heels and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, stars as Minjae, while Kim Sohyun of Good Boy and Love Alarm takes on the role of Youjin.
Behind the camera, Between Steps is written by Min Hyojung, whose previous works include Attic Cat and Full House, and directed by Ahn Pansuk, known for The White Tower, Secret Love Affair and Heard It Through the Grapevine.
The 12-episode series premieres October 5 exclusively on Disney+, with new episodes arriving every Monday and Tuesday.
