
Dyson is taking its engineering expertise somewhere unexpected: your bathroom. The company has unveiled the Dyson CameraJet, a new toothbrush that combines brushing, interdental cleaning, mouthrinse and a built-in camera into a single device.

Six years in development, CameraJet uses a 100,000-pixel macro camera, machine learning and a precision fluid jet to identify gaps between the teeth and automatically target them while users brush.
A Toothbrush That Can Find the Gaps Between Your Teeth
At the heart of CameraJet is Dyson’s new Gap Optical Targeting technology.
The built-in camera scans 28 images every second, with a machine-learning algorithm identifying and predicting the position of gaps between teeth. Once a gap is detected, the toothbrush can trigger a targeted burst of mouthrinse within 100 milliseconds.
Rather than the narrow stream typically associated with water flossers, Dyson developed a conical jet with wider coverage. According to the company, this approach is designed to sweep plaque away while operating at a lower pressure that’s gentler on the gums and enamel.
The system was developed using a proxy plaque created through a five-year research collaboration with the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Dentistry.
CameraJet also has a 12.5ml mouthrinse tank built directly into the device. Its anti-gravity system is designed to maintain a consistent flow even when the toothbrush is tilted or held horizontally when cleaning harder-to-reach areas.
Once you’re done, its docking station can refill the toothbrush in three seconds while also charging and storing it upright.
Dyson Has Rethought the Brush Head Too
The CameraJet uses a contoured dual-bristle brush head designed around the shape of teeth rather than a completely flat surface.


Firmer inner bristles target surface stains, while softer outer bristles clean around the gumline. Each brush head also contains an RFID tag that keeps track of usage and can alert users when it’s time for a replacement.
Dyson’s Variable Sonic Oscillation technology changes the angle of movement as users brush, helping prevent bristles from becoming stalled against the teeth. In laboratory testing, Dyson says the system removed up to 69% more plaque in hard-to-reach areas compared with market-leading premium electric toothbrushes.

The company is also introducing its own low-foaming toothpaste and mouthrinse, specifically formulated so excess foam doesn’t interfere with the CameraJet’s optical system. Flavours include Ginger Mint and Spearmint, alongside a Peppermint Sensitive toothpaste.
You Can Literally Watch Yourself Brush
Yes, the camera does more than help the toothbrush aim.
Through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the MyDyson app, users can access a live camera view to see inside their mouth as they brush.
The app provides guided cleaning, coverage mapping, brushing and flossing insights and personalised feedback to highlight areas that may have been missed. Users can also adjust brushing intensity and choose between automatic and manual jetting.
For those wondering about having a Wi-Fi-connected camera inside their mouth, the camera is only active during live viewing or automatic jetting. Images are not recorded or stored on the toothbrush or in the cloud.
Behind all of this is a considerable amount of engineering. CameraJet runs on 16 million lines of code, while its machine-learning system was developed using more than 470,000 dental images. 661 engineers and 30 dental professionals were involved in the project, with 38 patents filed for the technology.
When Is Dyson CameraJet Coming to Malaysia?
Dyson has confirmed plans for the CameraJet Dental System in Malaysia, although its local launch date and pricing have yet to be announced.

It’s certainly one of Dyson’s more unexpected product launches, but CameraJet follows a familiar formula for the brand: take an everyday household product, pack it with sensors and engineering, and rethink how we’re supposed to use it.
