BMW Group Malaysia records another year of Premium Automotive Leadership and Excellence in their Electrification strategy.

BMW Group Malaysia closed the year 2024 with another remarkable show of business performance with over 13,500 units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles delivered – 66% of which were locally assembled, earning the premium automaker its leading position of Malaysia’s Number One Premium Automaker for another successful year. 

In bolstering their commitment to premium electromobility, BMW Group Malaysia also successfully retained their position as the Number One Premium Electric Vehicle Provider with over 2,700 electrifying units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles delivered – accounting for 20.5% from of all of its deliveries for the year, adding to a total of nearly 33,000 units of electrified BMW Group Malaysia vehicles on the road to date. 

Amidst the Group’s 2024 performance, the BMW brand saw through the successful deliveries of over 10,500 premium vehicles over the year, while MINI, Malaysia’s most sophisticated compact premium automotive brand recorded over 1,400 vehicle deliveries. Meanwhile, BMW Motorrad, delivered over 1,600 premium motorcycles – a performance on par with that of 2023. 

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said at the Group’s 2025 business briefing, “The past year has been an extraordinary one for us at BMW Group Malaysia, one defined by successes and initiatives that reflect our commitment to innovation, excellence, and leadership in the premium automotive space. From reaffirming our commitment to Malaysia’s local automotive industry, with the expansion of our  BMW Group Regional Parts Distribution Centre, to solidifying our position as the Number One Premium Electric Vehicle provider in Malaysia for another year with over 2,700 electric vehicles delivered across our BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad portfolios, every milestone is a testament to the trust our customers and partners place in us.”

Over 2,450,000 vehicles were delivered across the BMW Group portfolio worldwide in 2024. The BMW Group recorded a significant growth of 13.5% in its fully-electric segment, after seeing through the successful delivery of over 426,000 fully-electric vehicles (including Rolls-Royce). Globally, BMW and MINI also achieved double-digit growth in their fully-electrified vehicles, with over 368,000 (+11.6%) and 56,000 (+24.3%) units delivered respectively, contributing to 17.4% of overall BMW Group deliveries – maintaining the Group’s growth trajectory for fully-electric vehicles amid challenging market conditions. 

Shaping Electrified Excellence for Malaysia.

After the stellar growth of their electric portfolio in 2023, BMW Group Malaysia continued to see an encouraging performance and adoption of their premium electrified vehicles for 2024, exemplified by the successful deliveries of over 2,700 vehicles. 

The past year saw the introduction of 27 new models and variants to BMW Group Malaysia’s premium vehicle portfolio, 12 of which were fully electric. A highlight amongst the new additions was the First-Ever BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport, a fresh perspective in its class, challenging expectation with an innovative blend of bold sporty design, contemporary elements, and exceptional driving prowess. Since its debut in April 2024, the First-Ever BMW iX2 recorded a remarkable performance, becoming the top performer in the BMW i segment with over 460 units delivered within 9 months. This was followed closely by the formidable business sedan, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport, coming in at just over 400 units delivered. 

Building on their dedication to advancing the adoption of electrified mobility for the nation, BMW Group Malaysia saw through an expansion of their state-of-the-art charging facilities. New EV charging facilities were opened in various key locations  across the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang, aiming to provide all EV owners with greater peace of mind for interstate travel, while ensuring convenient and accessible charging options within key regions. To date, BMW Group Malaysia has made over 2,020 charging facilities available in its network to its customers so far, through strategic partnerships with various EV charging providers in Malaysia, including Gentari, ChargEV, Yinson Greentech, JomCharge and more. Over 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are also available at most authorised dealerships, as well as partnering venues across the country, with more in the works as part of the Group’s continuous strategic infrastructure expansion plan set for 2025 and beyond. 

Leading the Premium segment with Growth, Innovation, and Customer Trust.

The success of the BMW portfolio in 2024 was driven by the delivery of over 3,600 units of the BMW X range of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs), with the locally assembled BMW X1 sDrive20i coming out on top as the premium automaker’s best-selling vehicle of the year. With nearly 1,500 deliveries fulfilled, the BMW X1 sDrive20i achieved an impressive growth of over 195% compared to its 2023 debut. This was followed closely by the BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport Pro and the BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport which saw close to 700 and 400 units respectively making their way to new owners throughout the year. 

Additionally, over 2,700 units of BMW 3 Series were delivered throughout 2024, with the BMW 320i M Sport leading the segment for the second year in a row at over 1,400 units. The BMW 5 Series also emerged as a favourite with over 790 units delivered – led by the newly introduced BMW 520i. 

MINI Malaysia also achieved an exceptional year, underpinned largely by the celebrated introduction of the New MINI Family – several new models that encapsulate the new brand design language of “Charismatic Simplicity”; the All-Electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4, the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman ALL4, the MINI Cooper S, the MINI Cooper SE, as well as the MINI Aceman SE and the preview of the MINI Cooper S 5-Door. Leading the brand’s segment was the locally-assembled MINI Countryman, with over 340 deliveries fulfilled in 2024. MINI’s electrified portfolio also grew in popularity, with the All-Electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4 coming in as the brand’s second highest performer, with over 320 units sold within 7 months of its debut. 

BMW Motorrad continued to excel in their promise to Make Life a Ride in 2024, with over 760 riders choosing to command the roads on new Adventure motorcycles. The success of this segment was led by the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure at over 300 units delivered to riders across the country. The rise in city explorers allowed the Urban Mobility segment to see a 21% growth in 2024, led by the BMW C 400 GT. 

2024 was also a year of steady performance for BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, who saw over 4,500 BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad financed in 2024, with 46% being fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Contracts funded under BMW Motorrad Malaysia achieved the highest global penetration rate at 67% in the year 2024. BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia also successfully funded over 3,300 contracts digitally, with the new Self-Service Portal on the MyBMW app allowing customers to manage their contracts conveniently and efficiently. 

Furthermore, BMW Group Malaysia retained excellence in their customer service, achieving the highest scores in the world of the BMW Group for net promoter scores across all three brands; an achievement supported by their expansive network of dealers who  are committed to providing the Premium Ownership Experience to their loyal customer base. The BMW brand received a score of 98 in terms of sales, while the MINI and BMW Motorrad brands received scores of 97 and 96 respectively. In terms of service, all three brands attained a score of 97. 

In November 2024, BMW Group Malaysia also commemorated the 20th Year Anniversary of the BMW Group Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Malaysia, reinforcing the status of Malaysia as a strategic logistics hub for the group in the Asia Pacific region. This significant milestone was celebrated with a landmark expansion of the cutting-edge facility, located at the Free Industrial Zone of the Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru, and introduced several notable improvements, including a purpose-built High Voltage (HV) Battery Storage Area and a modern Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking system, as well as the integration of a solar panel roof to support the BMW Group’s broader sustainability initiatives. 

Malaysia continues to be a hub and key touchpoint for the BMW Group in the ASEAN region, where the premium automaker has already successfully exported over 11,000 vehicles to the Phillippines and Thailand, making BMW Group Malaysia the largest exporter of vehicles from Malaysia to the region.
