IKEA reaffirms commitment to affordability, sustainability, and creating a better everyday life for the many Malaysians
IKEA Malaysia today held its inaugural IKEA Blueprint 2025 event at IKEA Batu Kawan, unveiling the company’s key priorities for 2025.
Affordability remains a core focus area amidst a soft retail market, reaffirming the company’s commitment to make well-designed and sustainable home furnishing accessible to more Malaysians. On top of plans to further drive omnichannel growth, IKEA also highlighted sleep as strategic offering and showcased new collections that customers can look forward to.
Malcolm Pruys, Country Retail Director of IKEA Malaysia said, “At IKEA, our vision has always been to create a better everyday life for the many people. Amid rising costs, our purpose to cater for people’s dreams, needs and frustrations is stronger than ever. Whether it’s thinner wallets, smaller living spaces, or the desire for better sleep. In 2025, we remain committed to help our customers create a better life at home, and making it more affordable than they imagine,” he added.
Affordability over Profitability
According to the 2023 IKEA Life at Home report, more than one third of Malaysians say that their household finances and disposable income are their top concerns around life at home (38%), followed by concerns about the state of the economy (36%).
“Affordability is the cornerstone of the IKEA business. In the current economic climate, we understand that people are generally more mindful when it comes to spending on home furnishing. With inflation easing, we believe that this is the time for retailers like IKEA to invest in pricing instead of profit, to ensure that as many people as possible can afford home solutions that cater to their needs,” Pruys shared.
With this, IKEA is making thousands of products even more affordable. The retailer is introducing New Lower Prices for over 2,000 of its most popular products, following another round of price reductions earlier in the year for over 300 products. Pruys clarified that New Lower Price is not a discount, but a promise, building on the IKEA belief that good quality home furnishing is for everyone.
Charting the Course for Sustainability
IKEA also strives for its affordable solutions to be made accessible to more Malaysians in more sustainable ways. Always leading by example, IKEA is further doubling down on its commitment to sustainability this year.
In a significant step to reduce its environmental footprint, IKEA is adding nine electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet for last-mile deliveries by the end 2024, bringing to a total of 12 EVs. Ten (10) more EVs are planned for 2025 as the company ramps up efforts towards achieving 100% sustainable home deliveries by 2030.
Pruys noted, “With e-commerce comprising 16.5% of total revenue in FY24, expanding our EV fleet is key to our omnichannel growth strategy. A total of 8,567 deliveries were made through EV last year, and we excited to see this number grow as we transition to more sustainable transport solutions.”
Elevate Your Home: IKEA 2025 Offerings
IKEA has unveiled a range of new and strategic offerings for 2025. From fresh designs to affordable sleep solutions, there’s something for everyone.
Recognising the importance of sleep for a better everyday life, IKEA is placing an extraordinary focus on sleep this year. The IKEA Life at Home report found that more than one-third of Malaysians find sleep key to maintaining a sense of mental wellbeing at home, while a study by the Asian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences has shown that 9 out of 10 Malaysians experience insomnia. Kicking things off with its month-long IKEA Snooze Fest all September across its stores nationwide, IKEA is spotlighting affordable essentials to help Malaysians achieve a good night’s rest.

Additionally, IKEA collaborated with a social business, supporting female artisans for its MÄVINN collection, which spotlights handmade crafts such as baskets, rugs, and cushion covers. Meanwhile, seasonal favorites like FÖSSTA, VINTERFINT, and GOKVÄLLÅ will also be returning for the festive seasons.
“There’s so much in store for the 2025 financial year. We’re excited for what’s to come as we continue to prioritise bringing affordable, sustainable and innovative products to our customers. We look forward to welcoming more Malaysians into the IKEA Family and becoming their go-to destination for good quality home furnishing solutions,” concluded Pruys.
