Indonesia is one of the countries with delicious food, in addition to gorgeous landscape and beautiful hills. There are numerous restaurants in Malaysia that sell Indonesian food, and the majority of them are well-known for their exquisite taste.
Chicken Porridge from Indonesia, Shanghai Lumpiang and Tortang Talong each from the Philippines was recently named among the best dishes in the Southeast Asian region by an overseas-based Taste Atlas Facebook group.
By collecting 4.7 points and being ranked the third best food in Southeast Asia, Indonesia’s Chicken Porridge has beaten Nasi Lemak. The food from Malaysia was only in the ‘OK’ position with a score of 3.9 along with Chilli Crab from Singapore and Banh Xeo from Vietnam.
However, the defeat of Nasi Lemak that was only voted in the ‘OK’ position has made some Malaysians feel unhappy. They argued that Taste Atlas may have never tasted the real Nasi Lemak.
One of the Facebook users who is from abroad was also confused about how the voting process was done when he felt that Nasi Lemak should be among the best food positions in Southeast Asia.
In addition, some people also questioned how Pad Thai from Thailand which is famous in most countries around ASEAN is only in the second-best position.
However, this assessment may not be done accurately, yet we don’t actually need an appreciation for the foods that have become part of our identity.
Either way, Nasi Lemak is listed among the 100 best traditional foods in the world so that’s all that matters.
