This variant, which was first detected in South Africa, made many countries worried and began to tighten travel restrictions again. No matter what, Delta has already created chaos.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had warned the public about this new variant. While many know this variant may be easier to spread than the Delta, much more is not yet known about this Omicron variant.
Therefore, Khairy called on the public to increase precautions by ensuring that all SOPs are adhered to more strictly.
We know Omicron may spread faster than Delta but we still don’t know the level of violence of this variant. Many netizens have also asked Khairy Jamaluddin to close the borders of foreign countries immediately especially after two passengers from South Africa were spotted in Singapore with this Omicron variant.
In addition, some suggested that the government make an official statement on this variant to avoid panic among the people. However, other netizens disagree that the country’s border should be closed because, as seen, Delta used to penetrate our country even when the border was closed at the time.
