If you’re visiting Langkawi, here are some must-see attractions

If you’re planning a vacation to Langkawi Island, you’re probably looking for fun things to do while you’re there.

Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park

Tourists who wish to ride the cable cars will be drawn to Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park. Oriental Village, a commercial hub that has been constructed around the foot of Mount Machinchang to facilitate tourism operations. There are gift stores, restaurants, a spa, a zoo, and the Langkawi Geopark Information Center in Oriental Village. There are a variety of things to do in this region, including horseback riding, jungle hiking, camping, and picnics.

Kubang Badak Mangrove Reserve

The best way to see Kubang Badak Mangrove Reserve is by boat, with 12 stops to learn about the region’s 500-million-year-old geology and more recent history, which includes fishing communities and Siamese settlers.

You get to balance on rickety jetties at the foot of Bukit Menorah to witness ruins of 18th-century Thai villages and charcoal industries from the banks of the Kubang Badak River.

 

Pulau Dayang Bunting

To reach Dayang Bunting Island, tourists would need to take a motorboat from the mainland of Langkawi. Pulau Dayang Bunting is free from any development because it has been gazetted as a forest reserve and placed under the management of the Langkawi Forest Office.

In addition, it is also UNESCO recognized and categorized as one of the geoforests in Langkawi.

While on the way, tourists would get to witness the shape of the island’s terrain as if a pregnant woman is lying down and from there is where the island got its name. There is a myth saying that women who are difficult to conceive should drink the lake water here and they will be blessed with children.

Two other myths that are folklore related to the origin of its occurrence are the fight between Mat Raya and Mat Chincang and the story of a genie named Mambang Sari who died while giving birth to a child.

Kilim Geoforest Park

Kilim Geoforest Park is a site where you may take a boat ride to witness the natural beauty. Geoparks are UNESCO-designated areas with geologically distinct features like mountains, rocks, rivers, mangrove swamps, caverns, lakes, animals, and so on. There’s the Bat Cave near Kilim Jetty and is located on the Kilim River. More than 1000 bats of various species, including Insect Bats and Flower Bats, live in the cave. Aside from that, tourists can also feed the eagles and mangrove forests, curtain caverns, and the Andaman Islands are just a few other attractions.
