If you’re a travel or hiking enthusiast then get ready for participating in all the climbing activities on Mount Kinabalu, which is officially open to the public. However, this opportunity is only available to those who live in the same area as the popular hiking location and is for fully vaccinated individuals only.
All Sabah Parks stations and offices (TTS), including climbing activities to the peak of Mount Kinabalu, have been reopened to the public since September 16, according to Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin.
The following are the opening dates for additional tourist attractions, according to the Sabah Parks website:
- Turtle Island Park, Sandakan – 20 September
- Bohey Dulang Island and Tun Sakaran Marina Park, Semporna (opening date to be announced soon)
- Kimanis Sub Station, Crocker Ranger Park, Keningau (opening date to be announced soon)
These areas are only available to tourists and climbers who are over the age of 12 or under the age of 70.
According to the website, the number of visits is restricted to 100 per day for each destination (each Sub Station and Island, respectively).
“All activities allowed within the Park are subject to the standard operating procedure (SOPs) of the TTS in line with Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) which was updated on 11 September,” Datuk Jafry Ariffin.
