This month, Batik Boutique released a collection for Merdeka. The collection centres around the KL Skyline, Malaysian food, and Malaysian slang words like “lah”. The collection also includes limited edition products from a collab with Projek57 merchandise.
KL Skyline Collection
The modern lines of the KL skyline are the inspiration for this mirrored batik motif. This collection includes seven types of products – a silk cotton square scarf, bamboo wooden tumbler, PU leather journal, Batik DIY painting kit, cotton tote bag, linen zip pouch, and a reusable 3-ply mask. These products come in different colourways, and prices range from RM45 – RM229.
The KL Skyline scarves in Teal Rimba and Fuschia Jambu are made from a blend of silk and cotton fibres, each scarf is waxed and then hand-painted, therefore no two are alike. As for the tote bags, they come in three colourways, Navy Gemilang, Fuschia Jambu, and Teal Rimba. The bags are hand printed on cotton fabric and it features a strap with a snap button for easy storage or shopping.
The KL zip pouches are available in coordinating colourways like Navy Gemilang, Fuchsia Jambu, and Teal Rimba. It’s worth noting that each pouch provides fair income for 17 people, from the hand-printing, dyeing, sewing, and packaging – this artisan-made pouch gives a new meaning to “made with love“. This KL pouch is 100% hand-printed on linen fabric and is perfect for your everyday necessities.
