Full of sweet, daydreamy duets and floaty ballads, So Cal married duo WalkJog release their debut EP, Soft Intentions on Sept. 1st. Keith and Emily Fernandez blend their talents and voices to create a textural, plush quilt of bedroom pop.
The title “Soft Intentions” is also representative of their introduction into the limitless world of music with this first record. “We’re here for anyone who wants to be part of the journey,” Keith says. “We’re flexible or malleable to what this is going to be.
We cover a wide spectrum of the human experience. With our relationship and music, I’m a dreamer and Em is more of a realist, so we balance each other out. I’ll push us to take a risk, she’ll be the voice of reason.” The EP came together at The Music Box Studios with co-producer/engineer Jon O’ Brien (Coma Culture). Keith plays all instruments other than the drums, and Emily and Keith wrote the songs together.
“Music is my whole life because of my mom,” operatically-trained singer Emily says. “Since my mom had a career in music, I’ve always been involved in music. I’ve always been singing and sharing this part of myself with people.”
In the vein of Cigarettes After Sex and Mac DeMarco, this is an album that caters to the contemplative or meditative moments.
