Did you know you can actually turn durian seeds into crispy chips?

When it comes to durians, most Malaysians can agree on one thing: they adore the fruit. But did you know that after enjoying the fleshy and succulent parts of the fruit, you can actually turn the seeds into crispy chips?

Let’s check out how to make it thanks to Rozana Hashim AsSalihin from the Masak Apa Hari Ni (MAHN) Facebook Group.

Although it does sound bizarre, imagine instead of wasting money on bags of chips, you can actually make your own at home. With this simple and easy process, you can finally make the ideal snack into reality.

1-1

So of course, as you should — clean the durian seeds first. You can opt to peel the brown skin but if you rather have it on, you can proceed to soak the seeds overnight in salt water.

2-1

The next day, you can slice the seeds using a kitchen slicer but if you have the one from Tupperware, that would do the trick as well since it was easier for her.

Once that is done, you should leave it alone for an hour or two then fry the seeds in a slow fire. Remember, it will take some time for these sliced seeds to turn crispy so make sure to keep stirring them.

4

You will know when it’s finally done when it starts to feel light and crispy.

Last but not least, don’t eat the chips immediately and let them cool first.

So what do you think about this? Are you planning to try ’em out? Let us know!
