Selangorians, explore these amazing destinations of your very own hometown

Once in a while, you will need time to calm your mind by going to places with quiet surroundings and away from crowded urban areas. Therefore, to anyone who wishes to go to serene and quiet areas away from the public, the following list consists of six accessible tourism destinations you can find in Selangor.

Sekinchan Paddy Field

Sabak Bernam is well-known for its beautiful paddy fields. Therefore, if you are looking for a serene and refreshing environment, this is the right spot for you to come with your loved ones. There are many activities that you can enjoy here such as walking around and taking pictures at the paddy fields, stop by at a special bakeshop, Ah Ma House, which sells traditional Chinese light food such as biscuits, crackers, snacks, and traditional baked goodies such as pineapple tarts, kuih kapit and kuih bangkit (tapioca cookies).

You can also visit the Paddy Gallery to learn on seed planting and the process of harvesting rice.

The National Botanical Garden

The National Botanical Garden is an agro-tourism park designed for leisure purposes as well as for research. National Botanical Garden features green, serene and refreshing environment. This park has their special attraction for visitors which is the famous four-season house where you can experience all 4 types of seasons; winter, spring, autumn and summer.

However, the four-season house will only open to the public in early 2021. Furthermore, there are also cactus, orchid and spice gardens as well as the animal park, fruit gardens and many more.

Selangor River Dam

If you have some free time, you can stop by at Sungai Selangor Dam because it is one of the interesting destinations especially to nature lovers and photographers where you can enjoy the natural environment with a lake which is crystal-clear and take pictures of the beautiful scenery of the hills.

Not only that, but there are also fishing and cycling activities along the way here. If you stop by at night, you can enjoy watching the night sky filled with stars (stargazing) while relaxing with your family and friends.

Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands

Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands is a perfect place for those who love going to quiet and peaceful places where they can enjoy the natural environment. The landscape around this area is very beautiful because it is filled with trees, large fields and natural plants such as waterlilies. This place has become a habitat area for more than 300 species of animals and to all bird lovers, you can enjoy bird watching too.

Not only that, but you can also enjoy activities such as feeding rhinos, crocodiles and fish as well as go for fishing, cycling, kayaking, jungle trekking and many more. Other of the unique activities is the “Safari Insta-Tour” which is a 45-minute ride on a truck to three scenic locations; Bamboo Trail, Lake Sendayan and Rumah Melayu.

Selangor Fruit Valley

Selangor Fruit Valley is a perfect place to visit as it offers many types of local fruit farms such as rambutan, papaya, starfruit, guava and many more and you can enjoy the fruits for free. Not only that, there are other attractions and activities such as visiting the mini petting zoo, an agricultural centre, traditional houses, dear and kelulut honey farms and enjoy kayaking activity. There is also a tram service where you can take a stroll around the park while enjoying the fresh air.

Furthermore, there is a coconut stall where you can take a rest and quench your thirst with fresh coconut water.

Pulau Ketam

5Pulau Ketam is located in Klang which is an interesting destination to visit where visitors can enjoy the peaceful surrounding of the beach and carry out exciting activities with friends and family.  The area is a fishing village that is populated by a majority of the Chinese community. It is also famous for its many seafood restaurants serving delicious menus. Some of the activities you may enjoy here include renting a bicycle and strolling around the village, taking pictures at mural sites and Chinese temples, enjoy and experience the scenery ambience of a fishing village, and many more

In conclusion, there are a lot of exciting attractions that you can visit in Selangor which are away from the crowd. Make sure when you’re travelling, you do not forget to always maintain social distancing and adhere to the standard operation procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
