Best known for their hits ‘Hey You’ and ‘Take Me Down’, rising alternative electro-pop band MONORIFF is back with another single ‘Only Louver’. As a tribute to individuals who are on the verge of giving up love, it motivates us to hold on to these feelings even though we’ve been hurt too many times.
When you give up on the idea of love, you give up on hope.
‘Only Louver’ is a love-struck beat that highlights the influences of instrumental and lyrical music.
As they slowly make their mark into the industry, the power-duo expresses melancholy reflections of the modern pursuit for love.
The times we had are over, But I’m stuck in the past” summarizes the agony of a louver who isn’t over with his then partner. It is the kind of louve that is inflicted with the pain of what could have been. Despite the sorrow, the louver hopes that his ex-partner isn’t suffering their past albeit his strong yearning to reconcile. He recognizes her as his Only Louver as he feels emotionally stunted and unavailable to louve again; at least with the same intensity. He chooses to live with the reality of having her alive in his head, regardless of the moving-on advice from his louved ones. It is a bittersweet decision that he has accepted to live with, for now.
When asked to describe their band, both Niralji and Rakesh share, “MONORIFF is what happens when an electronics rock group meets pop sensibility at the dancefloor.”
They began by experimenting the genre of indie rock which eventually evolved into beats that attain with instant appeal.
Niralji and Rakesh have come a long way since the start of the band. With endless possibilities to grow as a group, they strengthen their music production skills and are known to independent music producers as well.
With Niralji’s passion for the art of film music and Rakesh’s self-taught sound engineering skills, it certainly defines the underlying tunes of the band. Putting aside the distinctive styles of music, the duo’s other major influences and inspirations are from Avicii’s country-infused electronica tunes, original soundtracks from the Star Wars saga, Lord of the Rings trilogy and melodious Tamil music, notably A.R Rahman, Harris Jeyaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja.
‘Only Louver’ cast me into a groove infused scene incorporating pop elements that define their music. Featuring bouncing beats, deep bass and more the melody was phenomenal, and every element used had certainly shown their versatility and ability to produce a rousing track.
Solid work lads.
