As a PC gamer, you should know how important it is to get the right computer to round out your rig. Sure a good monitor could bring your games to life but in terms of choosing between a TN, VA and IPS panel, it is certainly a dilemma that all gamers go through. On top of that, you will have to decide whether you rather sacrifice refresh rates and responsiveness for resolution. At the end of the day, it really depends on your preference and budget.
Design 4/5
As a whole, the 27-inch monitor looks amazing with its slimline stand-design and the tiny little bezels, making it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Since you can’t really mount the monitor to the wall, I’m glad that the stand is well-built especially with the fact that it doesn’t take up too much space on your working desk. The stand also allows the screen to tilt 5-degrees down and 22-degrees up smoothly so hats off to the design team on that.
This beast comes with a 1500R screen curvature and offers gamers to really take it all in. Having said that, I find the image quality decent however with a 27-inch, 1080p resolution monitor, it just means that it is due to potential pixelation issues and that’s certainly a worry.
Features 3.5/5
With a blue-light filter and flicker-free technology, I’m sure my eyes are absolutely grateful for it as I can finally play my games peacefully without worrying about straining my poor eyes. Though what is an immersive viewing experience if the audio quality isn’t up to your standards? The VX2718-PC-MHD comes with dual integrated speakers that ‘tries’ to elevate your screen performance with stereo sound, even so, it just wasn’t that great, to be honest. Be prepared to spend on some good quality speakers to match your viewing experience.
That said, the monitor comes with Dual HDMI and DisplayPort inputs that provide users with ultimate flexibility when connecting devices. It also features an Eco Mode that consumes less power resulting in a smaller carbon footprint and reduced office overhead costs.
Performance 4/5
If you take a look in the market right now, the demand for affordable gaming monitors mostly comes with a 75Hz refresh rate. With the ViewSonic VX2718-PC-MHD, not only is it affordable, but it can also up your visual gaming experience with its 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms response. Putting the audio situation aside, I feel like that’s a steal, no?
No more streaking, blurring or ghosting as the quick 1ms blazing-fast response time is perfect for most graphic-intense games. The Adaptive-Sync technology also helps to virtually eliminate screen tearing and stuttering for a smoother gameplay experience.
Value 5/5
In terms of pricing, this has got to be the most affordable curved gaming monitors out there. For only RM799.00, users would certainly feel satisfied in both performance and price tag. The monitor is up for purchase at ViewSonic’s official Lazada store or you can drop by at any of their ViewSonic outlets.
Conclusion
You have to admit that this is a dream monitor for most gamers and with that attractive price tag, there’s a chance you might be tempted to snag one immediately. Keep in mind though that the VX2718-PC-MHD is VA technology and not IPS so eventually you might have to make an upgrade once you’ve run all its power out. Nonetheless, it is a great monitor that comes with a great value so I don’t see why shouldn’t you give it a try.
