Aiming to rise above adversity with sheer determination, BMW Malaysia has finally launched its first-ever four-door coupé in the compact premium segment. One thing everyone expects from a BMW is that sophisticated style and class and it’s no different with the latest BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport.
It was just two weeks ago when BMW Malaysia announced that they’ll be collaborating with local businesses, volunteer groups and Non-Governmental Organisations to create unique designs for the company’s first four-door coupé. After countless camouflage designed cars driving around town, the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport was unveiled at Time Kulture and its retail price stands at RM211,367 (on the road, without insurance).
Representing yet another exciting addition to the BMW fleet, be sure to be captivated with its power. The new Gran Coupé runs on a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and paired with a seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission that is said to be efficient for daily use yet remains powerful as ever. It is also the first-ever compact BMW coupé to utilise a transverse engine placement.
The latest BMW 2 Series coupé model’s maximum speed is 213km/h and it can also achieve a century sprint in only 8.7 seconds.
In terms of its silhouette, the car comes with a newly-designed three-dimensional mesh single-unit kidney grille featuring slim, slanted LED headlights and foglights.
Described as a powerful car, its muscular appearance is complemented with modern flared wheel arches alongside 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke style 819 M Bicolour with run-flat tires. As a standard, it also comes equipped with the BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line and M Aerodynamics.
As for the interior, the cockpit would be the first thing that will impress any driver. The sense of wealth and sophistication of the car just screams sporty yet luxurious at the same time. It features illuminated trim finishers in Illuminated Boston and LED light, a multifunction M leather steering wheel and sport seats with Leather Dakota upholstery, that is certainly a class of its own.
Other than that, there’s the BMW Live Cockpit Plus, a 5.1-inch portrait-format screen and an 8.8inch touchscreen control display. The centre console comes with a gear selector, iDrive controller, driving dynamics control as well as the push start button. Another plus point of the car would have to be the Telephony feature that allows wireless charging.
The BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport has only the best driving assistance systems that includes the Lane Change Warning, Crossing Traffic Warning at the rear, Rear Collision Warning, and Speed Limit Assist. As for the Parking Assistant and Reversing Assistant, it will also be available as a standard.
Available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Snapper Rock Blue, Storm Bay, and Melbourne Red that will be complemented with black Leather Dakota upholstery with blue and black highlights.
The first-ever BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport is now available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide. Customers can also book the new Gran Coupé on the BMW official website at RM1,000.
