Timberland launches a new capsule collection, My First Eco Kicks

by Grace Sundram

Timberland is back with another new collection for the year’s fall and winter season, My First Eco Kicks. As the world faces the possibility of undergoing a dramatic transition, respect for nature becomes ever more essential. The message of environmental responsibility behind Timberland’s Nature Needs Heroes campaign is poised to become a rallying cry for generations to come.

With that said, the multinational outdoor lifestyle company takes a fresh approach to the key qualities that have made the brand an icon since 1973 — launching an all-new type of footwear for the fall, dubbed the Madbury. The latest Timberland footwear design, the Madbury sneaker boot is inspired from the iconic Timberland 6″ Boot with a distinct mid-top silhouette. With a conspicuous “tree” stamp, it’s a reference to the sensibilities of streetwear that has rendered the style of its predecessor as an icon. An aggressive geometric style imbues the shoes with a sleek aesthetic that effortlessly goes across city streets and country trails.

The upper itself utilizes Better Leather, an environmentally-conscious leather sourced from a tannery earning a Silver rating by the Leather Working Group. Tanneries are independently judged based on responsible energy use, waste management and water treatment. Timberland’s proprietary ReBOTLTM fabric – of which at least 50 percent is made from recycled plastic bottles – is used in the upper and linings. Using ReBOTLTM fabric reduces environmental impact while still providing enhanced breathability and moisture-wicking capabilities. Meanwhile, a lightweight foam midsole meets a rugged outsole pattern inspired by the Classic 6” Boot to provide all-terrain traction.

The Madbury is slated to release as part of a capsule collection of outdoor-inspired apparel for both men and women. Reinterpreting archival Timberland workwear and hiking designs in a bright, modern palette and enhanced functionality, the collection is designed to be as suited to the city streets as it is to the wilderness. Key items include the SMU Workwear Coach Jacket in Timberland’s signature orange, and the water-repellent Camo Archive Mountain Trail Jacket; while a selection of hoodies, tees, cargo shorts and joggers complete the lineup.

As we enter a new season, responsible fashion will be crucial in creating a greener world. With its range of eco-conscious features and cutting-edge design that elevates all-day comfort, put your best foot forward in the Madbury as we step into a greener future for all.

The fall ’20 collection will be available at Timberland stores, wholesale accounts and on timberland.com. For more information about Timberland’s commitment to a better product, stronger communities and a greener world, visit the brand’s responsibility site.
