Malaysians are known to be huge fans of the Korean lifestyle. There’s K-pop, K-drama, K-fashion and K-food. That said, McDonald’s Malaysia is bringing back the Spicy Korean Burger – which has been a hit since being introduced in 2017. On a different note, McDonald’s will also be transforming its Putrajaya Drive-Thru restaurant into ‘little Seoul’ and it will be around until 12 August.
Themed “Seoul Experience”, the restaurant will be decked out with lanterns, wall décor, and an outdoor backdrop for customers to drop by for photo opportunities. The restaurant crew will also be wearing Korean traditional outfits to serve customers.
To make the campaign more exciting, McDonald’s Malaysia has also introduced the #McDaebak TikTok Challenge for Malaysians to participate and stand a chance to win McDonald’s cash vouchers. Participants would need to record a video of them taking a bite of the Spicy Korean Burger and show the “Daebak” (awesome) transformation version of themselves to the song “Clap” on TikTok. Participants with a valid entry are also entitled to a 30% discount on their next Spicy Korean Burger purchase.
The #McDaebak Challenge on TikTok will run until 2 August.
The Spicy Korean Burger comes with two choices – Grilled Beef and Crispy Chicken Patty – served with melted cheese, a mix of fresh veggies, grilled onions, and Spicy Korean sauce, tucked in a soft charcoal bun. This limited-edition burger is available at all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, while stocks last.
For dessert lovers, they can also enjoy the Black Forest Pie – a crispy chocolate pie shell packed with a fruity strawberry and creamy custard filling – or the new Black Forest McFlurry, a delicious treat of strawberry and chocolate bits in McDonald’s signature vanilla ice cream.
