Here’s why the M-Pencil is the perfect mate for the tablet you cannot live without, the Huawei Matepad Pro

Our handwriting is a part of who we are – it is one of our oldest, most profound modes of expressions. It has been a constant throughout history, from early cave paintings and enigmatic scrolls to calligraphy and sophisticated works of art. Even the growing prominence of keyboards and typing in modern life – a development that has connected people around the world in new and unforeseen ways – has not led to the withering away of handwriting as an art form or mode of communication. This has led Huawei to design the M-Pencil, a perfect accessory for the brand-new tablet you cannot live without – the HUAWEI MatePad Pro.

Introduced in conjunction with the launch of Huawei’s latest premium tablet, the M-Pencil represents the natural evolution of writing implements, from the pencil to the stylus, and was developed with a keen understanding of user requirements. Users can jot down sudden bursts of inspiration or crucial information, on just a whim for efficient work and boundless creativity at all times. By incorporating this familiar input mode, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro addresses all of the diverse needs of modern work and leisure with elegant simplicity.

The HUAWEI MatePad Pro features a 10.8-inch 2K screen with a soaring 90% screen-to-body ratio that provides for a mesmerising display effect and is equally comfortable in-hand thanks to its 4.9 mm ultra-narrow bezel. The HUAWEI M-Pencil stylus is 160 mm long with an integrated hexagonal body, and lightweight at 14 g, for a flawless writing and drawing experience, reminiscent of the feel of a pencil on paper. The pencil also supports tilt functionality to create shading effects. With the HUAWEI M-Pencil, you can interact with your world via your hand, writing and drawing at will, handling documents, taking notes during class, or recording the minutes during a career-defining meeting.

HUAWEI M-Pencil: A timeless pencil-like writing experience

If you want to find something that is a witness to the development history of the creative industry, it must be a pencil. A pencil is used in various fields. It can be used to compose music or code, draw, sketch, design drafts, or write a sonnet or a novel.

The HUAWEI M-Pencil stylus was meticulously designed for the HUAWEI MatePad Pro with this understanding in mind. It features 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, for writing subtle enough to do your finely-honed thoughts and emotions justice. The pen tip can detect the force exerted by the user, producing lines of varied thickness.

Smart erasing is supported as well, providing users with a convenient and efficient tool at their disposal. Best yet, the HUAWEI M-Pencil can also serve as a pen, painting brush, writing brush, or marker, depending on the need. It interacts with the drawing software to provide versatile use in different stylus modes. If you’re an avid painter, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro serves as a blank palette, within which you can bring your artistic vision to life. With 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and the tip-tilting function, HUAWEI M-Pencil also enables high-precision drawing and writing, while retaining the entire track, making exquisite expression the new normal.

Redefining the Note Taking Experience

Nonetheless, the HUAWEI M-Pencil goes above and beyond improving writing and drawing; it is also bolstered with unique smart office capabilities. The HUAWEI MatePad Pro comes preinstalled with an all-new version of Huawei Notepad that incorporates a diverse range of enhanced functions. Notably, it supports Tap to wake and record, even in lock screen. If you’re struck by inspiration when walking to work or riding on the subway, your HUAWEI MatePad Pro can preserve the idea for posterity. Rather than needing to unlock the tablet, then find and open the app, to begin writing, simply tap on the tablet screen with the tip of the M-Pencil to initiate Notepad, a game-changing capability for the creative-minded.

Notepad also provides numerous pen types and colours to meet the wide range of writing and drawing needs. In Huawei Notepad, you can take notes at will, and supplement your notes by drawing diagrams or even inserting pictures. The most impressive feature is searching for handwritten documents. Among the countless notes, users just need to type keywords in the search box, and the app can quickly locate the note in previous handwritten records.

Nebo for HUAWEI: A Wellspring for Creativity

Huawei has partnered with the renowned MyScript company to jointly develop Nebo for HUAWEI, a professional note-taking application. The app comes with powerful AI capabilities and interactive ink to bring a more convenient and efficient handwriting experience. To enable users to take notes quickly and naturally, Nebo can recognise several gestures, including:

Erase – Simply strike through or scratch-out content you don’t want anymore (words, calculations, diagram elements).
Break – Draw a straight vertical line down to split a word, create a line break or a new paragraph.
Diagram – Double-tap an empty area and choose Diagram to create a dedicated object.
Nebo is also the first application that supports multimodal input, which lets users edit the text no matter if they write with a keyboard or a stylus.

HUAWEI M-Pencil can be automatically paired through Bluetooth. Also, the pen is wirelessly charged through a magnetic charger which can charge for a 10-minutes use in 30 seconds or a 10-hour use/10 days standby with an hour charge. When the pencil is not in use, the magnet ensures it is safely placed beside the HUAWEI MatePad Pro while at the same time keeping it charged. To enhance the writing experience, HUAWEI M-Pencil features palm rejection that allows users to place their palm anywhere on the screen when writing.

The HUAWEI MatePad Pro serves as an indispensable tool in modern life, due to its unmatched versatility and mobile functionality. It was designed with both the highly-creative and highly-productive in mind – artists, designers, students, and professionals, or individuals who feel no need to colour within the lines or restrict their work to conventional settings. So, take your stylus and tablet, and make a cafe, airport lounge, or park bench your new creative space.
