Nothing to do? Pamper yourself now with a DIY spa day

by Andrea Tay

In the midst of all kinds of stress from the surroundings, it is important for one to know the way of releasing it through a suitable method. Although there are many ways of releasing your stress, not all are something to be done in the long run. One of the ways of releasing stress will be giving yourself time to relax. When the word “self-pampering” comes to your mind, going to the nail parlour, or the facial parlour or the nearest spa will appear in your mind. However, in this moment where everyone is not allowed to be out plus with the restricted movement order postponed to mid-April causing the limited income in one household, it is essential for one to save on their expenses yet not forgetting to find ways to ease oneself.

Before one can start to exfoliate their skin, setting the mood is somewhat important. One can try to set a much relaxing mood either by using a scented candle or flower-scented essential oil on their air-diffuser lamp. These two do not cost much. However, if one did not have an air-diffuser previously, they can also place the essential oil on a glass bottle while soaking a few sticks right in the bottle.

Exfoliating

Removing the dead skin cells has never been easier than this. Before doing any process of exfoliating, wash your face with luke, warm water to open the pores. After that, crack open an egg or two depending on the amount of egg white you got. Apply the egg white on a facial cotton pad and place it on your place, especially the edges you usually miss on a daily basis. Leave it till these cotton pads are entirely dried on your face. Then remove it gently by peeling it from the bottom. Make sure to remove the remaining cotton pieces or egg white liquid from your face.

Next, mix a tablespoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of regular sugar together. After mixing it well, rub it gently on your lips. These two ingredients made the best lip scrub ever. When you notice the dead skins are appearing on your lips, wash it off with water.

After removing the dead skin cells from your face and lips, it is essential for one to protect their skin with sufficient moisture to regenerate new cells. For that, you can use a Korean face sheet mask. With ample choices, the face masks will leave your skin supple after 20 minutes.

As for the lips, you can apply some virgin coconut oil.

Place them on your face with cotton pads and once removed, you can see the immediate effects. This mask acts as a 2-in-1 face mask for those who are looking for an exfoliator and whitening agent.

Aside from pampering just your face, you can do so with your hands as well. Before beginning, you should cut and file your nails and then soak your hands in warm water. You can include Epsom salt in it and soak your hands for a few minutes. After that, scrub your hands with the mixture of 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Before washing off, allow the oil to be absorbed into the hand.

Last but not least, don’t forget your legs. For those people who have dry and cracked heels, you can try to soak your feet in a basin of Listerine and vinegar. After the soak, you can apply lotion that is made to heal cracked heels.
