Easy snack recipes to try if you’re feeling ambitious this MCO

If you’re just as bored as everyone during this quarantine period, then there is no harm in dabbling and experimenting in the kitchen. I mean what else is there to do besides eat, sleep and repeat, am I right? So that is why we have compiled our favourite easy-to-do snacks for you to enjoy and make.

Roti Goreng Carbonara

What you need:

  • 1 holland onion
  • 200g ground chicken
  • 2 small can carbonara sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh milk
  • Sandwich bread

Steps to follow:

  • Fry some chopped holland onion along with the finely chopped ground chicken.
  • Then, add in the carbonara sauce and fresh milk to lessen the saltiness of the sauce.
  • Once it’s cooled, put the sauce in a Tupperware and freeze it for at least an hour or 2.
  • After that flatten out your bread and fill it up with the carbonara sauce.
  • Cut your bread into the shape of rounds like Doriyakis.
  • Fry until it’s golden brown and it’s ready to be served.

Mac & Cheese

What ingredients you need:

  • 1 tbsp of butter
  • Curry leaves (the more the better)
  • 200g ground chicken
  • Chilli flakes
  • 3 tbsp of garlic powder
  • 5 tbsp of salted egg powder
  • 2 cups of milk
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Black pepper

How to make:

  • Firstly, you add in the butter into a hot pan.
  • Put in the curry leaves and the chicken and start frying it.
  • Toss the garlic powder and milk in and let it boil until it changes colour.
  • Add in the salted egg powder.
  • When it’s still boiling, add in the mozzarella cheese.
  • Then the black pepper, chilli flakes and stir it equally.
  • Once that’s done, you can put in the boiled macaroni.
  • Mix it equally until it’s nice and thick.
  • Then, it’s ready to be served.

Apam Balik

Ingredients for the pancake:

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • Yellow colouring
  • 2 tbsp butter – melted
  • Salt

Ingredients for the toppings:

  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Peanut
  • Corn

Here’s how to make this dish:

  • Add in the wheat flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, eggs, water and yellow colouring, butter and some salt all in one mixing bowl and mix it well.
  • Heat a griddle or frying pan over low heat and pour the batter onto it using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake.
  • Once it’s already brown, spread some butter on top of the pancake and get ready to put in the toppings.
  • Add in the sugar, peanuts, and corn and you’re basically done.
  • Fold the pancakes into half and it’s ready to be served.

Tornado Fries

Essentials you need to for this recipe:

  • 3 potatoes
  • Bamboo sticks
  • 1 cup of rice flour
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water

How to make:

  • Skewer the potato with the bamboo sticks.
  • Carve the potato with a knife in a spiral shape and spread it out along the stick.
  • In a mixing bowl add in rice flour, salt, black pepper and water.
  • Coat the potatoes in the batter.
  • Fry in batches in hot oil until golden and crispy.
  • Ready to serve.

Cheesy French Fries Balls

  • 1 packet of Tepung Cucur Adabi
  • 1 cup of water
  • Mozarella cheese – diced
  • 2 cups of French Fries – diced

How to make:

  • Add in the Tepung Cucur Adabi with a cup of water into a mixing bowl.
  • Roll each Mozzarella cheese cube through the batter and the diced french fries.
  • Fry in batches in hot oil until golden and crispy.
  • Drain on paper towel-lined sheet trays.
  • Ready to be served.
