With the country under the Movement Control Order, doesn’t matter what social class you’re from — everyone is greatly affected. Not only will they have to still bear the costs from all sides (daily expenses for food, utility bills, bank loans, health insurance etc), but they might be struggling big time without no early warning. The government has come to a decision to relieve their people from bearing abundant costs by offering a local health insurance package.
What is it all about?
MySalam national health protection scheme is an advantage for the people that was established by the government to provide 8 million people with complimentary takaful protection.
Recipients’ criteria
To those who are already receiving the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH), they are still qualified to apply for this scheme. All they need to do is make sure that they are at the age between 18 and 65 years old with their spouses. Or they can be single individuals who are aged between 40 and 65 with the earning lesser than RM24,000 per year. For those OKU individuals who are aged between 18 and 65 years old, they are also qualified for receiving it but only if their earnings are below RM24,000 per year.
To those non-BSH recipients, they are entitled to this scheme if they are aged between 18 and 65 years old, with the annual earning below RM100,000.
Financial help
For BSH recipients, they are able to receive RM8,000 in cash if they are found to be diagnosed with one of the 45 Critical Illnesses. If they are admitted to any government, military or university hospitals, these individuals will be entitled to received RM50 on a daily basis. But, there is a catch — the maximum amount that they can receive is only RM700 in a year.
Whereas for non-BSH recipients, they can receive RM4,000 in cash if they are discovered with one of the 45 Critical Illnesses. For the coverage of the hospitalized costs, it is the same for both BSH-recipients and non-BSH recipients. This income replacement covers up to 14 days.
Collaboration with an insurance agency
This health assistance fund will not be possible if not for Great Eastern Holdings who has provided an RM2 billion to the mySalam trust fund. The join forces between both sides have the goal of raising a much secured social protection network for the people in Malaysia. This scheme was proffered by Great Eastern Takaful Berhad, which is also the operator registered under the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013, in the regulation of Bank Negara Malaysia.
Registration ends by 31 March 2020, better submit your forms as soon as possible.
