More often than not, we check out reviews on renowned skincare products to see whether it could work on us. But with the unacceptably expensive price tag, it is why some people deter their way from protecting their skin. So because of that, we have found out about a brand that is not just affordable, but it is made in Malaysia using only natural organic ingredients.
Known for their body scrub and face oil — I couldn’t wait to try SKIN Cosmetics’ products.
To break it down, I tried four of their products which consists of the Argan & Agarwood body scrub, Grapefruit lip scrub, Everyday facial oil and Peppermint Rose lip balm.
Design: 4/5
All of their products come in minimalistic glass bottles with a pink colour label, making their brand look stylish and eco-friendly at the same time. Although its pretty packaging makes a lovely addition to the bathroom, do note that SKIN Cosmetics’ is all-natural and organic. Plus, it is also travel-friendly, making it easy to bring it around whenever you’re out seeing the world.
Touch & Smell: 3.5/5
To start off with one of their best-sellers, the Argan Oil & Agarwood body scrub — it has a strong coconutty scent much to my liking. However, eventually, the smell grows on you and seems bearable as time goes by. As for the Himalayan salt granules, it is effective and not as rough as other scrubs.
Then there is the Grapefruit lip scrub that has a very strong grapefruit and beetroot smell with a hint of coconut. Compared to the previous scrub, the scent for this one is much stronger than the body scrub and just a whiff of it, makes me want to sneeze. Nevertheless, the granules aren’t as harsh and work well on the lips.
The Everyday facial oil has a prominent lavender scent with a touch of light citrus that I like very much. Quite emollient to the skin, this facial oil works well for those with dry skin.
With a subtle mint aroma, this Peppermint Rose lip balm isn’t as sticky as other products out there. It also doesn’t leave your lips greasy and annoying.
Application: 4.5/5
The Argan & Agarwood body scrub and Grapefruit lip scrub feels absolutely nice on both my skin and lips. Although I am not into the scent too much, it still works well by keeping my skin hydrated and moist. For certain, there’s a difference but the only thing I am not a fan of is that the scrub leaves a little oily residue behind so I would have to either wash it off with soap or a damp cloth.
It comes with two incredibly hydrating oils and works well after cleansing. It is true that oils are not for everyone but this Everyday facial oil isn’t too heavy nor too light, making it good to use for my oily skin type. I use the product overnight to get that nice glowy skin in the morning. Some might say that it’s better to apply the moisturiser first before applying any oil whereas some go with the vice versa and I am the latter. Why I do so is because as someone with an oily skin type, it is best to use the oil to dry the skin first. Then, I would put on my moisturiser for more hydration which pretty much will help my skin.
Giving out a nice layer of moisturiser to the lips, I only needed to swipe the Peppermint Rose lip balm once. It works well on my lips as it effectively gives my lips the hydration it needs. The only downside I found is that the cooling, menthol-like sensation that comes from peppermint itself is a bit too overpowering on the lips. But maybe with just a few tweaks on the formula, and I think this product can actually go far.
Benefits: 4/5
The creative minds behind this organic skincare brand use minimal ingredients to get the maximum impact for more transparency towards their products. As to say, the only ingredients that are in the Argan & Agarwood body scrub are the Himalayan Salt, Agarwood, Virgin Coconut Oil, Cinnamon Oil and Jojoba Oil. With these all-natural ingredients, the base scrub will certainly leave your skin feeling smoother, brighter and rejuvenated. You can also use the salt to soak yourself in the bathtub to relax your muscles.
As a little pick me up for your lips, the Grapefruit lip scrub is infused with Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Vitamin E, Beetroot Powder and Grapefruit Oil. It helps give your lips a natural plump and a smoother skin for an easy lipstick application.
With a blend of Argan Oil, Rosehip Oil, Lavender, Sweet Orange and Geranium Essential Oils and Vitamin E, this Everyday facial oil will give your skin an extra boost to feel soft and hydrated from within. Not just that, it also has anti-ageing properties as well. With high-level antioxidants, it will protect the skin and increase skin turnover.
Last but not least, the Peppermint Rose lip balm consists of Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Peppermint Oil and Geranium Oil. To prevent your lips from getting chapped and dry, this moisturising lip balm hydrates your lips and repairs any UV sun damages. Plus it makes your lips supple to apply your favourite lipstick afterwards.
Value: 5/5
As an affordable skincare brand that only focuses on protecting and nourishing the skin with all-natural ingredients, it is fair to say that RM45 for a tub of Argan & Agarwood body scrub is much worth it. Same goes to the Grapefruit lip scrub that is sold for RM25. Although it comes in a smaller size tub, a little does go a long way. Whereas the Everyday facial oil, SKIN Cosmetics sells it for RM66 and I believe it is much more affordable and effective than some whilst the moisturising Peppermint Rose lip balm is only RM20.

Verdict
All in all, my favourite products among the four would be the Argan & Agarwood body scrub and Everyday facial oil. Both these products have really helped in keeping my skin soft and moisturised. Hence for that reason, I would actually be a returning customer.
PS. I would reckon not to use the scrubs on a daily basis as too much exfoliating can create major damage to your skin. So, once or twice a week would do — depending on your activities for the week.
