When it comes to barbecue, the first thing that pops in our mind would be people gathered at somebody’s home during an occasion. But what you would find at this restaurant will be more than just a flip of the meat.
We tried out this Texas-style barbecue restaurant called Beard Brothers BBQ at Tropicana and we must say, this is the paradise for all meat-lovers. By smoking it for 14 hours straight after a good rub down of spices, you can definitely be impressed by how tender and juicy the meat gets. It takes years of practice to perfect this edible art of barbecue but these guys are the real OG. That said, here are 4 of the most loved dishes from their menu.
Big Platters: Fourplay
We tried out one of their big platters which come with beef briskets, pulled lamb, chicken and beef ribs on a side of mashed brotatoes (potatoes), chips, cornbread, honey-butter biscuits and coleslaw. Each of the accompaniments was absolutely textbook and these are the kind of sides, one would be looking forward to during a barbecue feast. Straight off the bat, the meat had a nice char on the outside whilst being juicy and tender on the inside. It was certainly a feast and a carnivore’s delight.
BB Original & Brick Lane Bread
In addition to all of that meaty goodness, they also offer a range of delicious sandwiches. At the Beard Brothers Deli, we recommend you to try out the classic BB Original. It is a smoky pastrami sandwich where the meat is smoked for 8 hours and was brined for 14 days straight. The sandwich is served along with cheese, garlic sauerkraut and BB mustard sauce. Besides that, their Brick Lane Bread is also a must-have! Just like the Pastrami, the Salt Beef is also brined for 14 days but cooked for 5 hours instead. This savoury goodness comes with pickled cucumber and onion with a drizzle of their infamous BB mustard sauce.
Umami Boru
Besides sandwiches, the Beard Brothers kicked it up a notch by adding ramen to the menu. Ramen is known as that go-to dish for everybody. And as a chef, slow cooking meat for hours especially during late nights — ramen is the simplest dish to cook immediately. It is a meal to fulfil the hunger of a chef and they created one by putting their own twist on it. To get a really kaw broth, they cook it along with the meat for 10 hours to get that strong balance of umami taste and meat. The noodles were nice and soft and the texture is beautiful. Overall, the dish was very aromatic and you could taste some of those flavours coming through.
Rizalar Coffee
If you think food is all the Beard Brothers got, well you definitely got that wrong. They came up with their own brand of coffee called Rizalar and it comes with two flavours: Cold Brew Coffee & Le Creme Coffee. Turns out the latter is a halal version of Bailey’s and it tastes amazing. Coffee with meat? Yes, please!
