For those of you who were at the Good Vibes Festival 2019 recently, you would know how epic it was this year with amazing performance, interactive booths and just a chill fun weekend. Not to mention an incredible 20,000 festival-goers surged to The Ranch @ Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands for two days. Music-lovers from across the world far and wide converged for the fifth edition of #GVF2019, to witness the stellar lineup of international and homegrown brilliant Malaysian acts, spread out to over three stages. The Electric Field Stage, Blue Stage and The Red Stage.
For the first time ever, festival-goers got to experience the new and improved ElectricFields, the festival’s fully-fledged third stage that featured a stunning mix of international and local DJs, electronic and hip-hop acts. The new Electric Fields stage also saw the debut collaboration of Good Vibes Festival and London’s own independent music platform and cultural curator, Boiler Room who presented a number of performances that were recorded and will be broadcasted on boilerroom.tv under boiler Room x Good Vibes Festival.
To kick off day one, indie-pop band Lost Spaces, electronic duo Dizkopolis, rap-star Kidd Santhe and 60’s inspired band Kugiran Masdo rock the red and blue stage before 7 pm. Over at the Electric Fields, rapper Lil Asian Thiccie, Bad Habits, R&B DJ Aku Ash, and DJ Duo BATE and NEXT ORDER and Malaysian DJ veterans Goldfish +JHin, hit the stage with their infectious beats and got the crowd pumped.
Then the night continued with American ambient pop band Cigarettes After Sex, rock band, Nothing But Thieves, multi-instrumentalist Mura Masa, and famous rapper 6lack. It then ended with a bang with Billboard’s 2017 Top Rap Collaboration winners Rae Sremmurd who took the Main Stage and leaving San Holo with the incredible mix to end the first night.
The second day of #GVF2019 started with local acts like Allester Shaun, The Impatient Sisters, Midnight Fusic, Lust, and Ryot Jones,and SonaOne. Then it continued with Sabrina Claudio, Dean and Rad Museum and Jess Connelly.
The evening went on further with American rapper/singer-songwriter, RUSS gave the audience “What They Want” and Daniel Caesar swooning the audience with his voice. Finally, Queen of Malaysian R&B, YUNA made a red-tinted entrance to the stage in honour of her new album “Rouge”.
Dj Duo LapSap celebrated their 12 years working the electronica scene in Electric Fields Stage and ending it with Australian DJ Anna Lunoe.
Throughout #GVF2019, festival-goers had so much to see and do with the myriad of interactive activations scattered around the grounds. At the UMobile zone, festival-goers snapped playful pictures at the booth’s Unlimited Grooves area and shot hoops at the extension in the Electric Fields for a chance to win some fun items. Over at Netflix’s tent, is the “Stranger Things” booth where they can win merchandises and people try Nestle’s La Cremeria with a bright vision in pink and also visitors get to up their booth game at the Rimmel booth and many more.
