If you’re an avid foodie for burgers, then The Daily Grind is the spot for you.
The Daily Grind, established in December 2008, is Kuala Lumpur’s very first gourmet burger restaurant dedicated to serving a range of gourmet burgers, from 100% prime beef patties to lamb patties and vegetarian options, using the freshest ingredients and homemade sauces.
They buy premium cuts of imported halal meat and grind them on the premises in a temperature-controlled process. Each patty is then weighed and moulded, enabling them to completely control the patty-making process and be absolutely certain of the quality and freshness of every patty The Daily Grind makes.
Apart from burgers, their menu is created for comfort dining. Some are forgotten favourites and others remain a perennial staple at the dining table. Here are some of it.
Dog’s Dinner, RM29
Rest assured you won’t be barking after nibbling on this snack. Staying true to its name, a dog bowl is being served to you. As for the contents inside of the bowl, it’s a golden fries smothered in a creamy onion sauce with melted cheddar cheese and “doggy” biscuits. So you know it’ll be a treat for all of you. The Dog’s Dinner is certainly an entertaining dish that makes you smile.
Seafood Spaghetti, RM 29
A simple dish that is perfected with its fresh seafood cooked in a garlic broth. The aroma that mixes with the seafood and garlic will make you go hungry and wanting for more. Can be shared with 2 people.
Southern Fried Chicken, RM 32
Chicken waffle is African American dish that was started in the south and enjoyed by many. However, it was my first time trying this dish (I know right?!) and truly I understand why it’s so famous. Besides the fact, it’s super delicious eating the crispy fried chicken with the fluffy waffle but the onion gravy enhanced the taste better too.
Desserts
Coco Goes Nuts, RM 18
You’ll surely get nuts over their layered coconut cookie crumbs, chocolate sauce, marshmallows, peanut butter and topped with ice cream. The texture of the chocolate sauce is just at the right proportion where it balances well with the rest of the ingredients in. As for the chewiness of the marshmallow, the crunchiness from the cookie crumbs and ice cream to soften your palate do brings you back to happier days all wrapped up into one.
Roasted Banana & Peanut Butter Pie, RM 16
The roasted banana is set in a banana mousse that is topped with cream and peanut butter. When it comes to the cake, it was light and airy. The peanut butter icing was a pleasant nutty flavour combined with the bananas.
Banoffle, RM 23
A royally luxurious waffle sandwiched with coffee cream, caramelised bananas, peanut butter, cookie crumbs and chocolate sauce. The waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The abundant cream filling in the waffle has lightly sweetened that merge well with the golden caramelisation of the bananas. The ice cream added was a cool touch to the warm waffle. Soothes your soul.
Burgers
Here are some of the mouth-watering burgers we were presented with.
Camembert Burger, RM 39
This burger certainly hamburgled with my heart. This beast comes with a double beef patty topped with deep fried camembert and cranberry bacon jam. At first, I was a little sceptical that the cranberry jam might just overpower the whole taste but to my surprise, it’s a pretty good combination. The moist, creamy, cow’s milk cheese of Camembert certainly would melt your heart and together with its juicy beef patties, marvellous.
Sloppy Joe, RM 33
A messy burger of sauteed beef patty in barbecue sauce melted cheddar and onion rings. Though the name itself would make a mess from eating, it’s actually pretty simple to chow down. The beef patty is sauteed to perfection as the meat is not greasy to eat and opting together with its skinny onion makes it all better.
Downtown Tokyo, RM 34
Here is another fusion of ingredients that wow-ed my taste. It comes with a deep-fried soft shell crab with Asian slaw and wasabi mayo served on a charcoal bun. The content in it certainly sounds Instagrammable but the combination of all that is simply spectacular. The wasabi mayo wouldn’t make you chase for a glass of water but the heat comes rather as an after taste. Plus, with the crispiness of the soft-shell crab and the Asian slaw with hints of seaweed do the burger justice. A must try!
Lambugerni, RM 35
The burger will up your horsepower level of eating! Lambugerni comes with a grilled lamb patty with smokey tomato sauce, pesto and grilled vegetables. It may seem like a simple burger preparation for you but the intricate details of the side dishes make the lamb patty the star of the show. Patty is juicy and meaty that everyone will enjoy.
Don’t miss out their creamy and amazing milkshakes too! RM15
