iflix, the world’s leading entertainment service for emerging markets reached a new milestone in delivering high-quality content to Malaysia with the premiere of its first Malaysian Original drama series – KL Gangster Underworld (KLGU). The six-part drama chronicles the dark and action-packed underbelly of Kuala Lumpur’s gang syndicates. Filmed entirely in Malaysia KL Gangster Underworld is available for FREE, to stream or download, exclusively on iflix starting from yesterday.
Present at the KL Gangster Underworld premiere event were Mark Francis, Global Director of Original Programming at iflix and Executive Producer of KLGU; Diana Boo, iflix Country Manager for Malaysia & Brunei; Zebedee De Costa, Supervising Producer at iflix Malaysia and Executive Producer of KLGU; producers of KL Gangster Underworld, Datuk Yusof Haslam, Syafiq Yusof and Syamin Yusof; and director Faisal Ishak. Also walking the red carpet were KLGU’s star-studded cast including Beto Kusyairy, Ezzaty Abdullah, Azhan Rani, Nabila Huda, Hasnul Rahmat, Zahiril Adzim, Dynas Mokhtar, Fezrul Khan and Daniella Sya.

“KL Gangster is a beloved Malaysian action franchise and we are thrilled to premiere this new breed of local drama. Conceived and directed by the creators of box-office hit franchises, KL Gangster, Munafik and Abang Long Fadil, KLGU is a spinoff of Skop Productions’ iconic films KL Gangster 1 and KL Gangster 2 and is helmed by established director Faisal Ishak (Juvana).
The story begins soon after the events in KL Gangster 1 – with the feuding gangs in disarray after their ringleaders are either behind bars or dead. In this power vacuum, one mysterious gang member decides to make a break his life of crime, until he unwittingly discovers a shocking truth that threatens to lure him back, one that could herald a new era for all KL Gangsters.
