Mrs Malaysia World Sdn Bhd (MMWSB) announced the 19 finalists for the Mrs Malaysia World 2018 pageant last week at a press conference held at the Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Ranging from 27 to 53 years of age, the finalists hail from Johor, Selangor, Sarawak, Malacca, Pahang and Kuala Lumpur and were shortlisted from 60 entries.
With an entry fee of RM500, only married women aged between 21 to 55 are allowed to participate. The finalists were judged based on their intelligence, independence, leadership, commitment to society as well as their involvement in community work as “Mrs Malaysia World” believes in the importance of giving back to the society. Those are the values that truly personify the purpose of this pageant which is to create role models of beauty with a valued purpose.
According to YBhg Dato’ Dr Mohandas Kattayat, Director of Mrs Malaysia World Sdn Bhd, the Mrs Malaysia World Pageant is not only a platform to motivate and empower mothers and married women to become the best possible version of themselves but more importantly, it aims at female empowerment.
“We already know and we’ve seen shreds of evidence where when we empower a woman, we unlock opportunities not just for one woman, but for her children, for her family, the whole community as well as the entire nation.
Spearheading the pageant as the Pageant’s Country and National Director is none other than the reigning queen of “Mrs Malaysia World” 2017, Datin Harveen Kaur. She was offered the license by the founder of Mrs World Inc. himself, Mr David Marmel. The entailed license allows the organization, (MMWSB) to manage, implement and organize the 2018 Mrs Malaysia World pageant with the aim of crowning a new Queen that will represent the country on the international platform later this year.
Leading up to the crowning, finalists will be expected to portray good etiquette, confidence and hard work as well as go through rigorous training such as catwalk, grooming, shooting and communications training from experts for 10 days before being judged in the final round.
The winner of this premier pageant will not only claim the title of Mrs Malaysia World 2018 and an all-expense-paid trip to the international finals worth RM50k but also carry the Champion Tiara worth RM1.5 million. She will also walk away with one RM25k jewellery piece from Ceres Jewels, Lewre Bespoke shoes (RM2500), room night stay at Royale Chulan Hotel, Ceramiracle skincare set, Nottingheels shoes and certificate from the organization. The winner will represent Malaysia in the Mrs World pageant (details are yet to be announced) that will be held overseas.
The finalists will be assessed during the Grand Finals on the 29th of September 2018 through a series of competitions which are broken down into 3 categories – Best in National Costume, Best In Evening Wear and Best in Community Work.
