“Where are you?” “I’m on the way already”

Every Malaysian knows that “on the way” means that person has just woke up, eating, or even doing their number two in the washroom. It’s pretty annoying when your friends or family are not a punctual person and ends up making us wait.

My biggest pet peeve is when a person is late and doesn’t know how to manage their timing well. It’s understandable that’s Malaysians are constantly half an hour late, but it never hurt to learn a thing or two about common courtesy.  I remember a time where a friend made me wait for almost an hour after she said she was “on the way” every 10 minutes. Let’s not do that to others, shall we? Let’s further explore on what you can do to manage your time effectively!

1.Get A Watch

Let’s address the elephant in the room now first. The main reason people are late, due to the fact that time is way too cool for them to even be aware of. By wearing a watch, a person is able to plan their day out and know when to leave a certain time so it fits right their schedule. Watches are one of the on-trend accessories must have. Now, you can define odds and be a fashionably early person!

2. List Making

I think most of the time people are not as punctual is also due to the fact that they don’t list down on how their plans for the whole will be like and they end up wasting precious time and reaching late to their destination. With this list, it makes you keep track of time and also learn to be an organized person.

3. Eliminate Distraction

Although this may be a hard thing to do, however, if you set your mind to refuse any distraction to come your way, you’ll be a super disciplined person. Start paying attention to the number of times someone interrupts you when you’re in the midst of an important task. Always learn to say no to things that will slow you down.

4. Prioritise Main Things First

Do urgent and important tasks first and not the one that’s more convenient for you. Efficiency and effectiveness are not the same: effective people focus on the important tasks. ‘Break down the task into their components so that you can accomplish them one step at a time.

5. Get enough rest

It’s true when they say getting a wholesome of 7-8 hours of sleep ensures your day will run smoothly without any more procrastination. For example, if you’re supposed to be awake at 8 am but you decide to snooze the alarm because you’re tired. That shows time wastage and thus causes you to be late.

Always remember to keep a lookout for the time and remember to not make people wait, because time is precious!
