MercedesTrophy Returns Big In Malaysia

Since the 1980’s Mercedes-Benz has been committed to the sports of golf since 1980 and each year, the brand hosts a prestigious tournament in the form of the MercedesTrophy, which is a premium tournament series for its customers worldwide to experience the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle to commemorate their passion to the art of golf. Their return to Malaysia marks its 28th year here, while worldwide, the tournament is undergoing its 29th iteration. Overall, more than a million customers and loyal fans of the brand has teed off at the MercedesTrophy.

“Fascination, performance and passion- Three words synonymous with the game of golf and the brand promise of Mercedes-Benz. Like our products, golf is a game of perfection, each and every stroke has to be perfect each and every time. This strong connection between the game and our brand has led to the active involvement of the Mercedes-Benz in this sport since 1989. Today, The MercedesTrophy has evolved into an extremely successful tournament series for amateur, staged over 60 countries, and we’re very proud to host it for the 28th year in Malaysia,” says Dr Claus Weidner, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

Each year, over 60,000 golfers in over 60 countries tee off at their local, regional and national invitational tournaments in hopes of qualifying for the Mercedestrophy World Final held in ” The birthplace of automobiles” Stuttgart, Germany. In our Malaysian scene, there will be 9 qualifying rounds played this year, and here are the schedule and venue:

  1. Sutera Harbour Golf Club, Sabah – 15th March
  2. Palm Garden Golf Club, Putrajaya – 28,29th March
  3. Penang Golf Club, Penang – 5th April
  4. Saujana Golf & Country Club – 11,12 April
  5. Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, Johor – 19th April
  6. Kota Permai Golf & Country Club – 24,25th April.

There will be 4 categories that you can join in for both men and women and they are:

Category A – Handicap 0-12

Category B – Handicap 13-20

Category C – Handicap 21-24

Category D – Handicap 0-36

 

The top 2 winners from each handicap category for Men’s and Women’s will qualify to the regional finals in Asia, and they will also win an all-expenses-paid trip to Sanctuary Cove, Australia from 5-8th August 2018. The winner of each handicap category in these regionals will then move on to the World Final in Germany held from 2-7 October 2018 and they also stand a chance to meet Mercedes-Benz global brand ambassador, Rickie Fowler.
