Dogs are furry animals that make your face frown with a big smile. I have two amazing dogs at home and they have definitely stolen my heart and my attention. I can remember the antics and tantrums they used to throw at my family only because they are waiting for their lunch or dinner food to be served to them. I could still vividly remember the first time I held my dog in my hands and he decided to bless me with his pee. 9 years went by, and it’s one of my sweet angel of a dog’s birthday today! Goes by the name of Rocky, this dog never fails to teach me to love people unconditionally and has never given up in his quest to enjoy his life to the fullest despite his blurry vision.
If you ask any dog owners, they will do whatever they can to protect and treat the dog as their own family. The people who take care of a dog in a healthy way, those who open up a dog shelter and adopt a dog are those who we need to give a standing ovation too!
In conjunction with the year of the Dog for the lunar new year, here are some of the reasons why you need a dog in your life.
1.Loyal
Have you heard when some talk about their ideal partner and they describe how they want a loyal partner? And their genius friend will reply back, you need a dog. It’s actually very true. The dog is believed to be the most loyal animal to mankind. Due to its strong sense of loyalty and sincerity, they will do everything for the person who they think is most important. Just take for example the saddest movie I’ve ever encountered, Hachiko, A Dog’s Tale – inspired by true life events – the dog named Hachi, religiously waits for his owner at the train station for almost 9 years for his arrival but the truth is, his owner pass away from heart attack. I’m not crying, you are!
2. Biggest Protector
People born in a dog year have a normally strong sense of justice. They stick to principles and like to make things right. They like to fight off bad guys and are the best defence you can ever hope for. This is also due to their loyalty, they tend to take good care of others. Dogs have a sense of territorial towards their owners. Just like Rocky, who barks at anyone who even dared to stand outside my house gate. They have a clear-cut stand on what to love and what to hate. They are brave and forthright.

3. Good partners
This is no doubt one of the biggest joys in anybody’s life is to have the most amazing partner among them. Dogs can surely guarantee this fulfilment in you. They are caring, warm-hearted, sensitive and thoughtful. Dogs are seen as valuable employees as they put their heart and soul into their tasks as well as a faithful and obedient species. What more can you need from an animal? I mean it’s not like there’s a story that a dog doesn’t make one happy?
If you’re born in a Dog year, you’re a Dog, and the following are deemed lucky for you:
- Lucky numbers: 3, 4, 9
- Lucky colours: red, green, and purple
- Lucky flowers: rose, cymbidium orchids
When it comes to getting a dog on your own, why don’t you adopt a dog? Adopting a pet(not just dogs) from a shelter or rescue group is not only exciting, but it’s truly a feel-good experience as well.
