Chinese Man Spend 10 Years Being Homeless to “Crack Lottery Code”

Striking the lottery is basically a one in a million chance. We spend money on trying to hit the right numbers and when destiny doesn’t provide us with the financial jackpot we need, yet we buy again in hopes we’ll be lucky one day.

However, a 49-year-old man from South West China got so obsessed with hitting the lottery that he has spent the past decade living rough under a bridge. Talk about determination.

Wang Chengzhou used to work construction in Sichuan Province, but moved to Chongqing in 2008 after suffering a work-related injury. Instead of using the 500,000 yuan he compensates for his injury, he used it all up to crack the code of the lottery algorithm. He cut all ties with his family to solve the mystery that could possibly land him mo’ money. After 10 years of hard work, he claims to have finally cracked the secret to getting filthy rich overnight.

Chengzhou’s obsession with cracking the lottery code began in 2004 during a drinking session. He was convinced the winning numbers have some sort of mathematical reasoning behind them.

“I saw the winning numbers, and I was shocked,” Wang told Chengdu Business Daily.

He claims to spend around 2,000 yuan ($312) on lottery tickets every month, and stays awake every night between 2 and 5 in the morning, counting his tickets and doing all sorts of calculations. Cracking the lottery code has been his priority all this decade. He claims this to be worth it after he is a millionaire. He even left his part-time work in China Post to focus solely on this obsession he has.

Mathematics professor Zhou Dexue told Chengdu Business Daily that lottery numbers are completely randomly generated, making success unlikely for Chengzhou.

One can only wish Chengzhou soon come to his senses. Oh well…
