Golden Globes 2018 Highlights

It’s that time of the year again, whereby the Golden Globes awards make its headway to commemorate various stars and directors for their movies. this is where legends are crowned or a star reborn. And as always, we have an exhaustive list to highlight who won, and in which category.

Best Actress for Limited Series Or Motion Picture

Nicole Kidman goes back with the trophy for this category with her performance in Big Little Lies. In her speech, she talks about empowerment for women while paying tribute to her female co-stars, while calling for a change in the industry.

Best Supporting Actor-Motion Picture: Sam Rockwell

Sam Rockwell takes the prize here with his portrayal as law officer Jason Dixon in the Martin McDonagh film “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”.

Best Actress for TV Series(Comedy/Musical)- Rachel Brosnahan

Rachel brings home the gold with her portrayal in Marvelous Mrs Maisel, which portrays a housewife in the ’50s who defies norms and become a stand-up comedian.

This is a story about a bold and brilliant and complicated woman, and I am endlessly proud to be a part of it, but there are so many women’s stories out there that still need and deserve to be told.

Best Actress For TV Series (drama)

Elisabeth Moss handles the reins on this adaptation from the book series by Margaret Atwood.  She has also praised the author on how the book series has changed the way society has looked at women.

This is for Margaret Atwood and all the women who came before and after you who were brave enough to speak out… We no longer live in the blank white spaces or at the edge of the print. We are the stories and we are writing them ourselves.

Best Actor for Tv Series (Drama)

Sterling K Brown wins this category with his performance in This Is Us.

Together with Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skaarsgard takes it home as well portraying the abusive husband in Big Little Lies.

Best Original Song for motion picture

Alexander Desplat wins the score for motion picture for the film Shape of Water

Best Performance by an actor in a motion picture (Comedy/Musical)

James Franco outperformed his performance of the magnificently bad director Tommy Wiseau which talks about the film the Disaster Artist. James Franco received his award with the real Tommy Wiseau joining him on stage.

Best supporting actress in a series, limited series or motion picture made for television

Big Little Lies is also going strong with Laura Dern picking up this category which also marks her fourth Golden Globe

Best animated film

Pixar brings on another win thanks to its latest Day of the Dead themed animation: Coco, which talks about a boys journey to the afterlife.

Best supporting actress – motion picture

Allison Janney wins this category with her performance in I,Tonya as the hardy mother of Tonya Harding, LaVona.

Best movie screenplay

This award was presented by a wheelchair-ridden Kirk Douglass with his daughter in law, Catherine Zeta-Jones which saw the dark comedy film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri win the category.

Best foreign language film

Hugh Grant reunites with Sarah Jessica Parker – his co-star in 2009’s Did You Hear About the Morgans? – to present this year’s best foreign film award to Germany’s In the Fade.

Director Fatih Akin is joined on stage by actress Diane Kruger, who stars in the film as a mother whose husband and son are killed in a neo-Nazi bomb attack.

Best actor in a limited series or motion picture made for television

Ewan Mcgregor shows us that he can still make it for his performance in Fargo.

Best television series-comedy

It’s not weird a show about a stand-up comedian would end up winning this category, in the form of Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

Best actor in a television series – musical or comedy

The Master of None is now a Master of this category, which brings Aziz Ansari to be the first Asian American actor to win the Golden Globes.

Best Director-motion picture

With a strong showing and numerous nominations for his movie Shape of Water, Guillermo Del Toro brings home the prize here. \

Best television limited series or motion picture made for television

Yet again Little Big Lies takes home the prize.

Best performance by an actress in a motion picture – comedy or musical

Ireland’s Saoirse Ronan beats Emma Stone, Margot Robbie and a pair of Dames – Judi Dench and Helen Mirren – to be named best actress in a comedy or musical for the charming coming-of-age tale Lady Bird.

And the award goes to… Lady Bird!

Best actor in a motion picture – drama

Gary Oldman holds no contest here with his latest performance as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour.

Best performance by an actress in a motion picture – drama

One of the tightest races of the night is won by Frances McDormand for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
