Late last year, the new 2018 Perodua Myvi was finally open to orders and the feedback has been immense as even the manufacturers were taken back by the response they are getting for this new model.
As the year closed, the number of bookings made was at 28,000 with 8,000 units being delivered as revealed by Perodua president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh. The demand for the new models skewed heavily towards the 1.5L model which has led to massive back orders.
“Because of the back orders, we’re now working overtime, we do apologise. Especially to our customers who have booked the higher variant, the 1.5L. We’re working overtime, and we hope to be able to reduce the delivery period. But having said that, we do have the 1.3L available. So customers, if you want your vehicles faster, new Myvi 1.3L is also an option. Not forgetting we have three other models,” he said.
According to him, the demand for the 1.5L model was much higher due to the fact that it comes with a whole range of new features such as six airbags, Advanced Safety Assists and a wide variety of driver assist features that are not commonly found in the pre-RM100k range. This is one of the best value for money buys for those looking for a new car to start with.
