Bro, cannot lah, I’m broke for the whole month
We all know someone that’s constantly be complaining they can’t go out because they have no money to spend or used up all their savings for the weekend. Saving up is so difficult now with student loan debts, monthly car payments, house rental and the most crucial money spender that is known to mankind, food! If this sounds like you, then we can be friends. Sometimes, we just can’t help it but just seize the day and spend it all without realizing the consequences. Here are some tips for you to identify a broke person.
1.Instant noodle is our best friend
Yes, we all have that time of the month where there’s nothing more comforting than Maggi mee by our side during our darkest days. We all have once done this either during college or while in the third or fourth week of the month and waiting for salary to bank into you. No shame about this matter because at the end of the day, the instant noodle is the most delicious broke person’s food. Agreed?
2. Happy ‘Free’ Hour
Guilty as charged! Who doesn’t love free food and drinks? If you’re not with me on this, you’re not a Malaysian. What’s not to love when you can save up money, fills your appetite, and well, feel lucky for once. With that being said, ladies, you’re in luck! Every Thursday, put on some heels and dress, you’ll be on your way to free ladies drink! Of course, only in selected places lah!
3.Involuntary legs day
When you’re carrying a heavy bag, and the distance between one place to another seems like a drag and you want to book Uber to help with your burden, then you realize, you have no money! So, what else to do but to walk! That’s when you know you can’t be spending money unnecessarily. Well, to think about it, you are working out and burning those calories from the instant noodles you’ve been eating. Somehow a win-win situation.
4.DIY Everything
You want to get the latest fashion trend or that top you’ve been eyeing for so long but can’t seem to get it because you’re broke? So the next thing to do is to cut your oversize T-shirts and make it into your version of the best fashion style to have. Not only that, sometimes we have no money of buying new shampoo, so we fill it with water for the time being. Yes, people like this do exist. It’s survival of the most broke and surprisingly gives birth to creative people too!
5. Home is where the heart is
No money, stay at home. Simple as that. When you ask your friend to go out and they’ll reply “I can’t, I’m broke”. Another best example is when you are planning to go to the most beautiful vacation places, but then you realize you can afford to vacation is your bed. Sad but true. At the end of the day, you don’t have to spend money and you don’t have to put on fancy clothes to go out anywhere. Saves you time, money and energy.
6. Let’s split the bill!
Going out on a nice dinner with friends and you are making it a point to not order anything too expensive but when the bill comes, you just have to say let’s split the bill. This can be embarrassing sometimes to say to a group of friends that are having fun and you don’t want to potong steam or be the party pooper, eventually looking like you’re the thrifty one. Word of advice, if your friend understands your situation, then keep them for a long time.
7. Extra earnings
Ever have that one friend that is constantly working non-stop even on the weekends? They do promoter jobs, filling up surveys, driving or even washing dishes on the side? All of this is a respectable job and should be given to the highest praises to the people who sacrifice their time for money to survive. So, next time, go a little easy on that friend of yours, alright?
