OPPO has unveiled the second generation of Enco Air wireless earbuds, in conjunction with the launch of the Reno7 Series 5G. The earbuds are Enco Air2, which now features new upgrades that include multiple audio effects, Bass Boost and Clear Vocals, improved touch controls and more.
Nonetheless, are these earbuds suitable for your daily tasks? Let’s read this review to find out.
Design 4/5
The OPPO Enco Air 2 charging case possesses the same design as its predecessor but in a smaller and lighter form, with a semi-translucent top cover that mimics the lightness and brightness of jelly.
The earbuds are vaguely visible through the semi-translucent top cover which seems promising. However, as ergonomic as the earbuds’ design is, they get a little uncomfortable after a few hours of usage due to their small size and tendency to slip. As a result of the slippage, the audio quality is occasionally disturbed.
Also putting in mind that it isn’t near to the Airpods, the quality of the plastic material used explains why it is the less expensive alternative. It appears to be high-end and exclusive on the surface, but it’s evident that you get what you paid for when it comes to touch and use.
Features 4/5
The OPPO Enco Air2 supports all types of smartphones and also has a low-latency binaural synchronous transmission with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. These earbuds will instantly connect to your device, and you will hear four beeps to indicate that the connection has been initiated.
Touch controls have been enhanced in the new Enco Air2 including:
- Double-tap the left ear/right ear to play the next song, answer/hang up a call and snap photos
- Three taps to activate the voice assistant/ the Game Mode
- Press and hold the left ear for 1 second to decrease audio volume
- Long press the right ear for 1 second to increase audio volume
When the earbuds are out of the case and on the ear, press and hold the touch area on both earbuds for 4 seconds to start pairing mode.
The controls may be adjusted using the HeyMelody app, which also allows you to monitor the battery state of both the earbuds and the holster and download updates.
The OPPO Enco Air 2 earphones have been upgraded in audio effects equipped with a 13.4mm composite titanium-plated diaphragm. This feature is designed to produce better bass when compared to its predecessors. In addition, users could have a choice of two stereo sound effects; Bass Boost and Clear Vocals.
After the Bass Boost mode is turned on, the bass becomes stronger and thicker. After Clear Vocals mode is turned on, the midrange and treble voice is clearer and brighter.
The DNN noise cancellation algorithm serves to adjust the ambient sound to cancel out noise during a call.
It has a flat surface that places the touch area on the shaft to make it easier for users to control the touch while wearing it. Although it is simple, I think it is one of the good features especially when it comes to lowering the volume or skipping songs. As an exclusive to the product, you can also simply double-tap to take a photo. It’s a convenient remote control feature that’s perfect for selfies.
To users who like to play games, you are advised to activate the Gaming Mode which can reduce the latency (latency) as low as 80ms. In this mode, the visuals are shown on the screen and the sound will move in parallel. When playing sound directional games such as PUBG and Free Fire, every sound of the direction of the shot and the surrounding footprints can be heard clearly. Conversations with friends while in the game are also clear.
Performance 3.5/5
The OPPO Enco Air2 earbuds give an extremely pleasant wearing experience. Even after wearing it for a few hours, my ear canal did not feel uncomfortable. I’m the type of person that regularly listens to podcasts while working, so you can picture me sitting for hours simply listening to back to back episodes all day, which explains how I’m conscious of the audio quality.
Of course, as claimed, it is a budget-friendly earbud, so don’t expect it to be as fantastic as the AirPods in terms of audio quality. Overall, I think it’s a fantastic option for people that use wireless earphones on a regular basis.
It has a battery life of up to 24 hours with a charging case, which is quite promising. It has a listening time of 4 hours and it takes 1.5 hours to charge fully.
Value 4/5
You can get OPPO Enco Air2 on the official OPPO Malaysia website for RM239 or at Shopee. Despite its low price, it still has an IPX4 rating suitable for you to wear while exercising because it is waterproof.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, the OPPO Enco Air2 is a new product that has been upgraded from the previous generation that offers comfort, robust audio, no delay connectivity and a budget-friendly price. . Not only does it have an ergonomic design that is comfortable to wear for an extended period of time, but the sound quality and connectivity are well worth the price.
