Tan Sri Vadaketh Chacko George, also known as VC George, is a former Court of Appeal Judge who has recently returned to the public eye after a brief absence. Last week, he released his tongue-in-cheek book titled ‘Some stories I have told and some that I haven’t,’ and the entire event was officiated by His Royal Highness, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Alharhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, Sultan of Perak.
Expect a colourful journey as the book narrates Tan Sri Dato’ V.C. George’s distinguished career as a lawyer and judge through stories of camaraderie and friendship.
Containing 100 anecdotes of wondrous stories spanning nearly nine decades, this witty and humourous books starts off with Tan Sri Dato’ V.C. George’s parents’ arrival from Kerala, India in 1925, to him going to London in the 1950s to read for the English Bar, and his appointment as the sole Judge of the High Court in Raub, Pahang in 1980.
Commenting on the book, former Bar Council president Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan called Tan Sri Dato’ V.C. George a remarkable man with a remarkable life.
“This book had me smiling (sometimes chuckling) from start to finish. But it is not all jokes and laughter by the author, who is famous for his trademark sense of humour and quick wit. I could not put this book down.”
“V.C. George’s book is an “almost” autobiography brought to life through a hundred brief (some very brief) tales of his exploits and experiences. It’s a book written in the inimitable George style with typical “Georgian” humour. His closest friends may wish to distance themselves from its contents,” as quoted in the book by Y.A.M. Tunku Tan Sri Imran, inter alia President Olympic Council of Malaysia [1988 to 2018].
“It is such an honour and privilege to have His Royal Highness, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Sultan of Perak, here with us today. I’m most thankful and deeply grateful that Tuanku has consented to unveil and launch my book,” commented Tan Sri Dato’ V.C. George.
Tan Sri Dato’ V.C. George’s, ‘Some stories I’ve told and some stories I haven’t,’ is available at all BookXcess bookstores nationally and online.
More importantly, Tan Sri Dato’ V.C. George has ensured that the entire proceeds from the sale of the first print of the book will be donated to a variety of charitable causes, including the Malaysian Bar’s Legal Aid Scheme.
