For the 32nd year, SHARK WEEK is back with bigger sharks and a “fincredible” lineup. To deliver amazing shark stories, the pop-culture phenomenon will be taking a dive into the ocean as well as to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Air Jaws’. Fans who enjoy the show can enjoy viewing the oceans around the world whilst the celebrities will be revealing phenomenal insights into the mysterious world of these brilliant creatures.
In case you didn’t know, Discovery Channel’s SHARK WEEK has been around for three whole decades and has become the preeminent destination for shark programming. On top of that, the network has continuously worked with nearly two dozen of the world’s most respected marine biologists and science institutions to introduce brand-new, innovative shark research technology and compelling insight on some of the most unique shark species in the world.
SHARK WEEK 2020’s star-studded lineup
For this year’s edition of SHARK WEEK, viewers will be seeing some familiar faces like Will Smith. Being one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, get yourself ready and tune in to Will Smith: Off the Deep End. The talented actor will embark on a journey to overcome his greatest fears. He will be facing massive tiger sharks and he will have his family and former Navy bomb disposal diver and shark attack survivor Paul De Gelder to help him.
In another exciting highlight, boxing legend, Mike Tyson will face off with the unlikeliest of opponents. Iron Mike will go head to head with an apex predator, the tiger shark on Tyson vs Jaws: Rumble on the Reef. The goal here is to see if Mike Tyson can score a knockout over the massive shark, all in the name of research. And don’t worry, no sharks were harmed (or bitten) in the making of this episode.
As the show goes on, viewers will get to see comedian Adam Devine, in Adam Devine’s Secret Tiger Shark Lair where he and team of marine biologists will venture into one of the largest group of tiger sharks on the planet. This happened last year where Adam discovered a secret tiger shark lair after deploying a camera tag on a shark.
Sharkadelic Summer is another special episode that features rap legend Snoop Dogg who will join forces with experts to study the increase of Great White Shark encounters in the US compared to the past decade. Although the number of Great Whites is decreasing in South Africa and Australia, it seems that there are huge populations of this predator along the coast of the US. Experts believe that this will be the “sharkiest” summer in US history.
These shows will air on Discovery Channel, ASTRO Ch 551 or 571 so shark on.
