We can’t stress enough on how important it is to wear sunscreen, especially when you’re residing in tropical countries and is constantly under direct sunlight. Not only does wearing sunscreen can protect your skin from those harmful UV lights but it can also help maintain a much even skin tone. Plus, it works well with makeup if you apply it correctly. If you’re planning to hit the beach with your girlfriends, then we reckon you to try out the Sunplay Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence SPF50+ PA++++, if you haven’t yet. It comes in two variations perfect for you and your BFF: Lavender for normal skin type and Mint Green for redness and pimple prone skin.
We are completely obsessed with the whole unicorn slash mermaid vibe for the Lavender variant which comes in both tube and spray. The packaging comes in a beautiful pink to blue gradient shade in a sturdy tube with a flip open cap and in a spray can. Whereas the Mint Green features a turquoise to honeysuckle gradient look.
Touch & Smell 4.5/5
The sunscreen texture from the Lavender tube is pretty milky and creamy with a light lavender tint that provides the skin with a translucent glow. In terms of scent, it comes with a slight romantic Savon fragrance. It’s the same for the spray as well, however, clearly, the product will feel much lighter on your skin in comparison to the essence. As for the Mint Green, it has a similar texture like the previous essence but with a blue-green tint instead.
The Sunplay Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence and Spray is pretty much a beauty sunscreen that is made for an instant IG-ready look. Perfect for you and your BFF skin types, the sunscreen can work as a makeup base that can make your skin look luminous as ever. Since both Lavender and Mint Green essence have a lotion-like texture, there is no doubt that a little dollop (1.2ml) as recommended can go a long way for this one. It may feel a little tacky on the skin at first, but as you gently apply around your face, it will leave your skin looking dewy and moisturised. Though it is worth noting that it does leave a slight cast on the face, as it should since the sunscreen is made for skin tone-correcting. Also, the essence is designed to brighten up the skin with a shade lighter.
The spray, on the other hand, feels way lighter on the skin with a similar blue-pink tint as the Lavender essence. With a quick shake, spray your face or body evenly and gently pat it down with your palms. This actually works well for reapplication throughout the day especially when you have make-up on.
What makes this product interesting is that the sunscreen works to cancel out yellow undertones with its lavender and green tint in the most subtle way. Not only does it make the skin instantly brighter and luminous thanks to the Iridescent Strobe Pearl Powder. But with SPF50+ PA++++, it also protects the skin from aging UVA rays and burning UVB rays.
Just like the best friend concept, you can be two peas in a pod with different personalities but the end goal is to basically be there for each other no matter what. Knowing that everybody has different skin types, it can be quite worrisome to find out when a certain product just doesn’t work well for you.
Hence, why it is so relatable when it comes to these two variants: Lavender and Mint Green.
The Lavender is made for normal skin types whereas the Mint Green is for those with redness and pimple prone skin. Basically what we’re trying to convey is that everyone can finally try out the Sunplay Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence without any worry.
To add on, its signature blend features the classic humectant — Hyaluronic Acid and also Vitamin C helps make the skin clearer and supple. In addition to that, the Pure Nuance Complex consisting of Passionfruit, Hydrolysed Prune and Chestnut Rose Extract replenishes your skin with moisture whilst boosting its clarity as well.
It is RM65.90 for an 80g tube whereas the spray is RM53.90. These products can be found at most major drugstores nationwide as well as on Hermo online. The fact that this sunscreen may be a little pricey but do keep in mind that it does brighten up your skin, conceal your dark spots and protects you from harmful UV rays.
What makes this sunscreen really promising is that it doesn’t have a tacky finish to it which is a huge plus point for many. That said, it works great as a makeup base too. Not forgetting that it comes with decent oil control because of its amazing matte finish allowing your makeup to stay on longer throughout the day.
