Mercedes Benz Malaysia has once again brought joy to those in need by bringing back its Christmas in a Shoebox event to three charitable homes for the needy, which are Angels Children’s Home, Agathians Shelter, and House of Joy. This would mark its 9th year running the event in succession, whereby 46 children aged 4-12 years can engage in fun activities for the day.
A strong supporter and indeed the driving force of the ‘Christmas in a Shoebox’ initiative is Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner. “The festive season is a time of giving and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is happy to bring some cheer to the children in the form of warmth, togetherness and gifts. We are very passionate about doing our part in giving back to the community and truly enjoy spending time with these young people from various backgrounds and hearing their stories and dreams. It is also very heartening to see our employees band together to volunteer their time, talent and kindness to make ‘Christmas in a Shoebox’ a success every year,” said Dr Weidner
The event was held at Ruang in SS18, Subang Jaya, and this year’s activities include Christmas themed sand art sessions, cupcake decorating with assorted edible toppings for the children to decorate freely, and a wristband crafting session. The kids were also able to bring out their creativity with Lego and jigsaw puzzle sets.
A special appearance by Santa, Rara and Kiwi the clowns and MBM’s Mobile Kids mascot, MoKi, prompted squeals of excitement from the children who took turns hugging and high-five-ing their favourite characters.
The Christmas in a Shoeboc event concluded with a special Christmas gift time with Santa MoKi and Rara, with each gift being personalised based on the child’s perspective wishlists. These gifts were personally picked out and packed in Mercedes Benz backpacks by volunteers of MBM, Mercedes Benz Services Malaysia and TSS Malaysia.
